Plants and trees they do not move
except when we do not look
they can move a wall or driveway
in imperceptible increments
or cover things forgotten
and show up in the smallest crack
we take them for granted
and do not notice
till they are suddenly ominous
they have a singular purpose
to absorb the energy
and make sugar for food
from the nutrients
they take from the earth
no distractions.
